Trekking: Otranto and the Palascia Lighthouse

With this adventurous excursion we will guide you along on the Cape of Otranto Trail to admire Lighthouse of Punta Palascia and the Nature Trails of the Otranto-Leuca Nature Park. We will make an exciting panoramic and extreme Trekking, walking the coastal paths on high cliffs, visit the legendary Tower of the Serpe, walk on the Sentiero delle Orte, go up the coast exploring the former Bauxite Quarry, its little red lake and the striking red earth dunes. We will continue along Il Sentiero di Capo d'Otranto, we will do an adventurous trek, we will go through the fossil forest and explore the Grotta del Vento and the scenic Grotta del Ciclope, we will arrive at the Lighthouse to stop on the easternmost point of Italy, We will walk along the Paths of the Via Francigena until we reach Masseria Cippano, from here we will walk the Sentiero delle Memorie from the Colle dei Martiri. From here we will return to Otranto to the starting point where the hike will end.

We will visit one of Otranto's symbols, the legendary Tower of the Serpe, walk on the Orte Trail, until we reach the bay of the same name.

From here we will go up the coast and explore the former Bauxite Quarry, its red pond and striking red earth dunes, in a unique environment that has now become one of the most striking places in the Nature Park.

We will continue along Il Sentiero di Capo d'Otranto, one of the most adventurous and exciting trails in the park, make an adventurous trek, go through the fossil forest and explore the Wind Cave and the scenic Cyclops Cave.

Stop At: Punta Palascia Lighthouse, Strada Provinciale 87, 73028, Otranto Italy

From here we will set off again towards Punta Palascia and arrive at the Lighthouse to stop on the most easterly point in Italy, observing in the background of the Adriatic Sea the mountains of Albania and the Greek Island of Corfu, which almost seem to be able to touch each other from here. We will continue Trekking along the nature trails of the Otranto-Leuca Nature Park.
