Lake Mburo national park (LMNP) is the smallest of Uganda’s savannah national parks and is located in kiruhura district in the western Uganda, the park is situated about 30 kilometers by road, east of Mbarara, the largest city in the sub-region,Lake Mburo National game Park harbors several wildlife species not observed else where in Uganda.like:Etopi, bush buck, common duiker, oribi, Defassa water buck and Bofor reed buck, while the lake and lush fringing vegetation support healthy populations of buffalo, warthog, and hippopotamus. Large herds of the majestic eland keep roaming the park. The sitatunga confines itself to the swampy areas of the park. Only two diurnal primates occur in Lake Mburo: the vervet monkey and olive baboon.
It's the closest national park from Kampala City, and easily accessible in just one day or 2 days for those who have time in Uganda.

lake Mburo NP harbours several species not observed elsewhere in Uganda. It is the only place in Uganda to support a population of impala (from which Kampala city derives its name), and only one of the three protected areas countrywide where Burchell’s zebra occurs, the other two being the far less accessible Kidepo and Pian-Upe.
Other antelopes easily seen are topi, bush buck, common duiker, oribi, Defassa waterbuck and Bofor reedbuck, while the lake and lush fringing vegetation support healthy populations of buffalo, warthog, bush-pig and hippopotamus. Large herds of the majestic eland keep roaming the park. The sitatunga confines itself to the swampy areas of the park. Only two diurnal primates occur in Lake Mburo: the vervet monkey and olive baboon. Nocturnal calls of the spotted hyena can be heard through the night. Leopard, side-striped jackal and various smaller predators are also present, most visibly the white-tailed mongoose and three otter species resident in the lakes.

conduct a boat cruise on Lake Mburo as you enjoy views of crocodiles and lots of hippos with a variety of birds alongside a short drive to the Lake Mburo Rwonyo Park Headquarters with a good chance of seeing hyenas coming back to their dens, hippos walking back to the water, you will see buffalo, zebra, impala and topi and with a bit of luck maybe even a sitatunga, an antelope rarely seen living in the papyrus swamps.
Another game drive to Kazuma Lookout Point with a stunning view onto 9 of the lakes surrounding this Park. The walk onto Kazuma Lookout Point is steep but short and extremely rewarding and should not be missed when visiting this Park.
Later set off for Kampala with en route stop at the Equator for photographs and purchase of souvenirs to carry back home and in the evening before be transferred to Entebbe
