4 Days Haba Snow Mountain Climbing Tour (Lijiang-Shangri-La)

The key highlight of this itinerary is to climb Haba Snow Mountain. Standing at 5396m, Haba is just above the snow-line and is covered with snow all the year round. This trip allows you to experience the typical process of climbing a snow mountain. It is not a hard climbing route. The most difficult is to overcome the high altitude sickness. Itinerary

Day 1: Lijiang-Tiger Leaping Gorge-Haba Village

Stop At: Tiger Leaping Gorge (Hutiao Xia), 100 km NW of Lijiang Hutiaoxia Town, Shangri-La County 674402 China
Continue the driving of 40KM more to visit the the Upper Tiger Leaping Gorge, the deepest gorge in the world. With 34 rapids of the Yangtze River, it is called the Jinsha in this area because you can find gold in the river. Then, you’ll head for the Middle Part of Tiger Leaping Gorge for your lunch.

Stop At: Haba Village, Sanba Country, Shangri-La County 674411 China
After that, drive to Haba Village which is a small Naxi village located at the foot of Haba Snow Mountain. Arrive at Haba Snow Mountain Guesthouse in Haba Village. You will prepare for your equipment and acclimatize youselves to the altitude(2600M in Haba Snow Mountain Guesthouse). After lunch, examine your heart rate and blood oxygen content, and learn the knowledge, condition and introduction of the Haba Snow Mountain Climbing. Overnight at Haba Snow Mountain Guesthouse.

Day 2: Haba Village-the Base Camp of Haba Snow Mountain

Stop At: Haba Snow Mountain, South-East of Xianggelila, Shangri-La County 674400 China
Trek up the Haba Snow Mountain for about 15 km to the Base Camp at the 4200m, which will take about 7 hours, with yaks taking your luggage. You will have picnic lunch in Haba Snow Mountain. You only need to take some water, clothes and necessary food, the other equipment will be transferred by the horses to the Basic Camp.

Day 3: Base Camp-the Summit of Haba Snow Mountain-Base Camp-Haba Village

Stop At: Haba Snow Mountain, South-East of Xianggelila, Shangri-La County 674400 China
Get up at 3:00 am, prepare for your equipment and have a simple breakfast. Examine your health condition before leaving for the top at 4:00 AM. You will leave most of your luggage at the Camp 1, just need to take your mountaineering tools, such as the rope, ice axe, ice pick, the bag, some solid food, a warm pot of water, clothes, headlight, climbing equipment for the climbing to the summit of Haba Mountain.

Day 4: Haba Village–Tiger Leaping Gorge-Lijiang

Stop At: Tiger Leaping Gorge (Hutiao Xia), 100 km NW of Lijiang Hutiaoxia Town, Shangri-La County 674402 China
Driver back to Lijiang from Haba Village.
