2-Days Hummingbirding Tour

This +100 birds species tour has been designed for nature lovers, if you are a beginner, photographer or the most experienced birdwatcher this is for you. We love to teach, learn and interact with all people that loves nature.
We will visit two of the most important hotspots for birds concervation. Laguna de sonso is declared as an important birds area (IBA) by BirdsLife International and it is nature patrimony of the region.

Itinerary

Day 1: Boat sailing and hummingbirds

Pass By: Salento, Salento, Quindio Department
We pick you up early in the morning, then we will drive 2h to get the starting point.

Stop At: Laguna el Sonso, Buga Colombia
We arrive to the shores of the Cauca River to have our breakfast and get ready for our birding experience.
Duration: 40 minutes

Stop At: Laguna el Sonso, Buga Colombia
After taking our breakfast, we set off to sail in a motor boat along the Cauca river, spotting all the birds along the shores
Duration: 2 minutes

Stop At: Laguna el Sonso, Buga Colombia
After getting to the river port, we will hike inside the nature reserve of the Laguna de Sonso, to visit the two observation towers, from where we can see Ducks, Herons and Grebes. Other birds like woodpeckers, Orioles and Tanagers can be seen as well.
Duration: 20 minutes

Stop At: Laguna el Sonso, Buga Colombia
After our birding walk, we will have our lunch at the shores of the lagoon
Duration: 40 minutes

Stop At: Avistamiento de Aves Dona Dora, El descanso km 55, Dagua Colombia
After lunch, we will have a 2h drive to reach to Doña Dora birding, where we will stay the night to visit the "Lek" of the Andean Cock-of-the-Rocks early the next day
Duration: 2 minutes

Meals included:

Accommodation included: We will stay in doña Dora's house, there are private rooms with or without bathroom.

Day 2: Cock-of-the-Rock Hike

Stop At: Avistamiento de Aves Dona Dora, El descanso km 55, Dagua Colombia
Early in the morning we will hike to the Andean Cock-of-the-rock to see around 4 males displaying in a Lek.
Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Avistamiento de Aves Dona Dora, El descanso km 55, Dagua Colombia
We will take breakfast and the we drive towards the next hummingbirds spot
Duration: 40 minutes

Stop At: Cali, Cali, Valle del Cauca Department
We will drive 1h to reach the next birding hostpot in Cali. Here we will spend a couple of hours to see hummingbirds and other colorful birds.
Duration: 3 minutes

Pass By: Cali, Cali, Valle del Cauca Department
At the end of the day you can decide to go back to salento, or if you want to stay in Cali you can also take this option
