ItineraryDay 1: Arrival at Paro Airport - ThimphuStop At: Tachogang Lhakhang Bridge, Paro-Thimphu Highway, Paro 12001 Bhutan
Once you arrive at the Paro International Airport, you will be greeted by our representative (Guide) and then drive to Thimphu (approx. 1hr 30m). On the way visit Tachog gang where an iron chain bridge is built by Thang Thong Gyalpo.

Stop At: Motithang Takin Preserve, Thimphu Bhutan
The Motithang Takin Preserve also known as the Mini Zoo by many is a small natural preserve for the Takin - Bhutan’s national animal. This is a rare animal of the goat antelope family and a particular species is only found in Bhutan. The preserve is a forested preserve that mimics the Takin’s natural habitat, in addition to the Takin there are a few musk deer and barking deer that live inside the preserve.

Stop At: Thangthong Dewachen Nunnery, Gadhen lam, Thimphu Bhutan
Also known as the Thangthong Dewachen Nunnery, the Zilukha Nunnery is housing around 60 nuns in its premises, a visit to the site energizes the soul because of its peaceful surroundings, which lures one’s mind to never leave the site. From here, the spectacular view of Tashichho Dzong can be captured in a camera to make for a beautiful photo album.

This factory produces handmade paper using traditional techniques that have been passed down through generations. The paper is made from the bark of the daphne tree, locally known as “Desho,” which is abundant in the Bhutanese countryside. The process of making the paper involves harvesting the bark, soaking it in water, boiling it to soften the fibers, and then beating it into a pulp. The pulp is then spread out onto wooden frames to dry in the sun.

The Buddha Dordenma, also known as the “Buddha Point,” is a massive statue of Buddha Shakyamuni in the Kingdom of Bhutan. It is located atop a hill in Kuensel Phodrang Nature Park overlooking the capital city of Thimphu.
The statue stands at a height of 51.5 meters (169 feet), making it one of the largest Buddha statues in the world. It is made of bronze and gilded in gold.

Chimi Lhakhang, also known as the Fertility Temple, is a revered Buddhist monastery located near the village of Sopsokha in the Punakha Valley of Bhutan. Chimi Lhakhang is especially popular among couples who are trying to conceive or seeking blessings for a healthy pregnancy and childbirth. As part of the fertility rituals, couples visit the monastery and receive blessings from the resident lama (monk).

It is arguably one of the most beautiful dzongs in the country. Punakha Dzong is renowned for its impressive architectural design, characterized by whitewashed walls, red-wood beams, and traditional Bhutanese-style roofs.

Day 4: Punakha - ParoStop At: Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, Punakha Bhutan
The Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten is a stunning Buddhist shrine situated on a ridge above the Punakha Valley, offering panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and rice fields. The trail winds through lush rice paddies, small villages, and across a suspension bridge over the Mo Chhu River before ascending towards the chorten. Along the trail, hikers are treated to breathtaking views of the Punakha Valley and the surrounding countryside.

Paro Rinpung Dzong is set against a backdrop of lush green hills and towering mountains, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. The picturesque setting adds to the charm and allure of the dzong.
It was established by the Zhabdrung, to defend the Paro Valley against Tibetan invasions. Paro Rinpung Dzong is host to several annual religious festivals, including the famous Paro Tsechu.

Day 5: Paro - Bumdra CampStop At: Bumdrak CampSite, G93J+QM9, Paro, Bhutan
Trek begins with an Early morning drive to Sang Choekhor, the Buddhist College, with outstanding views of the valley below. Above us, the Chhoe Tse Lhakhang temple nestles in the mountainside – a further two-hour walk, where we will stop for lunch.
The trail undulates for a while before the a steep pull up. From here, you can soak up the dramatic views south over Paro and north to the snow-capped Himalayas. After a final climb through Monastery fluttering prayer flags, we plunge back into the ancient forest, coming out on a high wide meadow dotted with sacred chorten and white flags. Our wild camp for the night is tucked under Bumdra monastery (Cliff of a Hundred Thousand Prayers) with incredible views of the Himalayan range. If time permits, we can visit the monastery and also climb the peak to the sky burial site (about 4,000m) for even better views, returning in time for a hearty dinner.

Day 6: Hike from Bumdra via Zangthopelri Monastery to Taktsang to ParoStop At: Paro Taktsang, Taktsang Trail, Paro Bhutan
After a filling breakfast, we can either head back into the valley or linger a while to soak up the view and perhaps hang some prayer flags of our own. Eventually we drop back into the ancient pine and rhododendron forest on the zig-zag trail. During our descent, we catch glimpses of temples below. The path snakes across the mountainside between the temples, before reaching the gardens of Zangktopelri, from where we can see straight down onto the ornate rooftops of Taktsang monastery, perched against the cliff-face far below. An hour later and we are at the gates of Taktsang, looking across the gorge; a steep descent to a waterfall then up some steps to pass into Tiger’s Nest itself. Retracing our steps we begin the final descent to reach our vehicle and drive back to Hotel.
