Completed in 1778, it is a typical New Spain Baroque construction from the late 18th century. On its facade you can find a sculptural group that represents the Crucifixion of Jesus. But what distinguishes this church and has turned it into much more than a religious monument, is that it was here where the priest Miguel Hidalgo, who was in charge of it since 1803, gave the cry of independence.
