In March 1994, Adelaide experienced a devastating act of domestic terrorism when the National Crime Authority (NCA) building was bombed. A powerful explosion destroyed the building and killed Detective Sergeant Geoffrey Bowen, an NCA officer. Several other people were injured in the blast.

The investigation into the bombing revealed that it was a targeted attack against law enforcement. The case remained unsolved for many years, but in 2012, a man named Domenic Perre was arrested and charged in connection with the bombing. He was convicted in 2013, marking a significant development in the case.

The "Beaumont Children Disappearance" (1966):

On January 26, 1966, three siblings, Jane (9), Arnna (7), and Grant (4) Beaumont, left their home in the Adelaide suburb of Somerton Park to spend a day at Glenelg Beach, a popular seaside destination. It was a sunny Australia Day, and the children were seen at the beach by several witnesses.

However, the children never returned home, and an extensive search was launched. Despite a massive police investigation and widespread media coverage, no trace of the Beaumont children was ever found. Their disappearance shocked the nation and led to significant changes in child safety practices in Australia.
