5-day Classic Taiwan Eastern Beauty Private Tour
Taiwan’s east is known for breathtaking scenery. Our Eastern Beauty Tour brings you to well-known scenic spots and hidden gems alike. Along the way we’ll experience awe-inspiring scenery (including Taroko Gorge and the Rift Valley), visit the villages of indigenous tribes who’ve called this land home for thousands of years, eat amazing meals and have plenty of opportunities for leisure and outdoor activities including hiking, boating and bicycling through the awe-inspiring terrain for which the area is justly known. In between the bucolic splendor, we’ll also make time to explore Hualien and Taitung, two of the east coast’s largest cities. Though equally laid back, both cities boast their own unique cultural caches.

After meeting the group in Taipei, we’ll head down the magnificent east coast to Hualien county, where we’ll visit a beautiful pebble-strewn beach with famously clear blue waters.

Stop At: Liyu Lake, No.27, Sec. 1, Chinan Rd., Shoufeng Taiwan
Spend a lovely afternoon at Liyu Lake, the largest inland lake in Hualien. You can cycle or hike around the lake, fully enjoy the relaxing time here.

Stop At: Dongdamen Night Market, No.50 Zhongshan Road, Hualien City 970 Taiwan
After checking into the hotel, our friendly guide will take you to spend the evening eating and watching street performances at the Dongdamen night market. (at guest's expense)

Day 2: From Hualien to TaitungStop At: Baxian Cave, Changbin Town, Changbin Taiwan
We’ll stop to visit the Baxian, or “eight deities” caves, known both for their geological features and religious iconography.

Stop At: Sanxiantai, Chenggong Township 961 Taiwan
Further down the coast, we’ll stop for a hike in Sanxiantai, whose long arched footbridge connects the rocky coast with a neighboring island. You will be enjoy the layback atmosphere at beach.

Stop At: Dulan Sugar Factory Cultural Park, No.61 Doulan Village, Donghe Town, Donghe Taiwan
In the afternoon we’ll visit the town of Dulan, known for its tribal artists, surfing scene and laid-back vibe before a quick stop at the sugar factory.

Day 3: Taitung Exploration DayStop At: Taitung, Taitung
On day three we’ll visit a most unusual museum, one made not of brick and glass but of interconnected trees, part of a forest preserve maintained and protected by members of the local Bunun tribe. We’ll learn about the lives and cultures of SE Taiwan’s indigenous peoples, enjoy tribal cuisine, and even do a bit of tree climbing ourselves. Afterward, we’ll head back to Taitung city to chill out and explore.

Day 4: Taitung to HualienStop At: Hualien, Hualien
Having reached the southern extent of our tour, we'll begin the trek back north, traveling through the spectacular Rift Valley. With the coastal mountains to the east and the central mountains to the west, we'll pass through some of Taiwan's most gorgeous landscape. Activities for today include a bicycle ride through the rice paddies in Chishang, a visit to the Tropic of Cancer Marker, and fresh ice cream at the Guangfu Sugar Factory. We'll head back to Hualien to enjoy local snacks at the at Hualien Golden Triangle Shopping District before checking into our hotel.

Day 5: Taroko Gorge to TaipeiStop At: Taroko Gorge, Xinchen Township, Xiulin Taiwan
On the last day of our Eastern Beauty Tour, we'll head to Taroko Gorge and spend some time exploring the place some call Taiwan's Grand Canyon. We'll drive along a picturesque road quite literally carved into the canyon walls, stopping for lunch with a marvelous view, visit a temple, shrine or waterfall, and even take a brief hike into the gorge itself. After gorging ourselves on scenery, we'll head back to the coast for the final leg of our Eastern Beauty Tour - a spectacular evening drive back up the eastern coast.
